There are a wide range of convenient guest services and amenities offered to our patients, residents and clients.

Bank Machine

Automated bank machines are located in the Hospital main entrance and on the 1st Floor of A Wing outside the cafeteria. There is a small service fee associated with transactions that benefits Providence Healthcare.

Barber and Hairdresser Services

Located in the Houses of Providence on the main floor, the Hair Salon/Barber is available to patients and residents. Hours of operation are 9 a.m. – 4 p.m., Tuesday, Thursday and Friday. Call 416-285-3666 x4292 to make an appointment.


Our cafeteria is located in Providence Hospital, A Wing, on the 1st Floor. It offers a range of healthy, delicious and nutritious meals, including a fresh salad bar, chef’s hot table, deli counter, daily soup and pizza specials, snacks and hot and cold beverages. Hours of operation are 11 a.m. – 2 p.m., Monday to Friday.


Our Lady of Assumption Chapel is located on the 3rd Floor with access from the 4th and 5th Floors. Everyone is welcome to worship, pray or spend time in quiet reflection. The following celebrations are held in the Chapel:

  • Annual memorial celebrations for those who have passed away at Providence
  • Monthly Christian hymn sing and worship open to patients and families (first Thursday of every month at 2:15 p.m.)
  • Christmas and Easter ecumenical worship for patients and families

Through the work of our Spiritual and Religious Care team, Providence’s leadership is looking at ways to hold a regular Sunday Mass in the Chapel for patients and families. There are a number of challenges for which we must find solutions but please be assured that this is an important matter for us and we are working hard to open the Chapel to our community for Sunday Mass.

Computers (Internet Café, donated by Bell)

The Internet Café helps patients connect with family and friends, stay on top of personal finances and get the daily news. Adaptive devices make it easier for patients with physical challenges to surf the Internet and play computer games. Open daily from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. in Providence Hospital on the 3rd Floor.

Gifts & Flowers

While we do not have a gift shop on site, we do have a small café in the Houses of Providence that offers a selection of cards, drinks, snacks and other small items. Additional gifts and flowers can be purchased from a number of shops in the neighbourhood. Flower deliveries will be delivered to your Patient Care Unit. Please note that due to latex allergies, latex balloons are not permitted in the hospital.

Language Services (Interpreters)

In cases where there is a demonstrated need for interpretation, patients and family members will be offered access to over-the-phone, face-to-face or American Sign Language (ASL) interpretation service. The interpretation service will be provided in your room or in a quiet and private location in Providence Hospital to ensure confidentiality between patient/client, clinical staff and family member if required.


A laundry service is provided at a reasonable charge to select patients. Rates for this service are provided at the time of admission. There are also coin-operated laundry facilities located on B2, B3, B4 and B5 within Providence Hospital. Any patient within the Hospital can use these facilities.


Available to all patients and residents. Located in the Houses of Providence on the 2nd floor in the activity room (west side).


Incoming mail is delivered by Hospital volunteers to your Patient Care Unit. Please inform friends and family to address your mail as follows:

Outgoing mail may be deposited in the Canada Post mailbox located at the main entrance to the Hospital. Stamps are available in the Houses of Providence Café.


Complimentary Toronto Star newspapers are available at the Hospital main entrance.Newspapers can also be purchased from boxes located outside the main entrance.


Providence’s retail pharmacy is open to patients and families and the public. In addition to filling prescriptions, the pharmacy carries a range of non-prescription items like vitamins, supplements and headache medication. Pharmacists are also available for consultations on medication reviews as needed. Pharmacists will dispense your discharged prescriptions and review all medications with you and your family to ensure you are comfortable with them when you return home. They will send a copy of your medication discharge plan to your family doctor, as well as the pharmacy of your choice, to make your transition of care as seamless as possible.

Even if you have been discharged from Providence Hospital, you are welcome to return to us if you would like to have your medication refilled or reviewed with you.

The pharmacy is located in Providence Hospital at the entrance to the B Wing on the 2nd Floor. Open Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Scotiabank Learning Centre

This resource centre is for people learning to cope with life-altering illnesses such as Alzheimer’s disease, stroke, diabetes, heart disease, arthritis and Parkinson’s disease. All services are free-of charge. Hours of operation are Monday to Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. or by appointment by calling 416-285-3666 x4177.

Spiritual and Religious Care

Chaplains are available to help meet spiritual and religious care needs. There are chapels within both Providence Hospital and the Houses of Providence, available to worship, pray or spend time in quiet reflection. Call 416-285-3666 x4048 for more information.

Telephone and Television Rentals

Available to all patients and residents. Contact Hospitality Network Services on-site at 416-285-3675. Order Forms for Hospitality Network Services are available on each floor of the Hospital and the Houses of Providence.

Tim Hortons

Located at the main entrance to Providence Hospital, the Tim Hortons kiosk serves baked goods and bagels, breakfast sandwiches and wraps, oatmeal, yoghurt and berries. There is also a grab ‘n’ go section stocked by our cafeteria with soups, sandwiches, salads and some popular entrees.

Toyota Canada Motor Skills Clinic

This unique clinic is designed for the exclusive use of patients who are recovering from a stroke, orthopaedic surgery or a lower limb amputation. It recreates an external streetscape with walkways and curbs, a crosswalk, grass surfaces and a Toyota Venza. By bringing the challenges of the outdoors into a reassuring environment, patients safely relearn the day-to-day skills they will need once they are discharged. Located in Providence Hospital on the 1st Floor.
